Well it’s the first official blog for our brand new ZWFOOTBLOG and I thought we would kickstart things with what we got up to in the year of 2020 as it was a very busy one for our team!
We started the year by building our brand-new clinic in Kirkby Lonsdale after awaiting planning on the development of the new clinic site. It was an extremely busy and uncertain time for us with everything that has been going on since the end of 2019 but we had belief in what we were creating and that belief became a reality. And so, ZW Foot & Lower Limb Centre was born!
The Kirkby Lonsdale development has brought us many new opportunities for growth of our services and more importantly SPACE to make those services come alive. We promised state of the art services and that is exactly what we will bring to the area. With the new website having just launched, so too is the announcement of RUN 3D coming to Cumbria! Run 3D is a complex movement analysis of gait used in research across the globe and is the only technology that allows us, in real time, to look at exactly what happens to your body when you move. We are very excited to be exclusively offering this to Cumbria and look forward to the intensive work the new system will bring to our practice. It really is like bringing a research lab into our clinic. As well as this, we also have a 1m long pressure plate system to assess pressure analysis under the foot. This will allow us an in depth look at exactly where you plant your foot, at what rate and a great way to pick up on heightened areas of pressure that require off-loading and rehabilitation.
ZW Clinics will be hosting its first ever Multidisciplinary clinic alongside leading MSK Physiotherapist, Jemma Donald of Absolute Physiotherapy. This service will give us the opportunity to communicate our expertise, giving our patients the Gold standard approach to assessment where multiple factors could be contributing to the presenting problem. As well as this we have also been working with Physiotherapist and MSK Ultrasound Specialist, Graham Dawson running joint clinics with Lead Podiatrist, Zoe Wilson alongside the completion of her CASE accredited training in Diagnostic Ultrasound. This service has offered so much already to ZW Clinics by improving diagnosis, management and allowing us to quickly and efficiently treat pathologies related to the foot and ankle maximising our treatment outcomes and success stories!
SWIFT microwave therapy is coming to ZW Clinics! Verruca are painful lesions on the sole of the foot caused by, yep you guessed it, a VIRUS! Verrucae can be unsightly and extremely painful significantly effecting quality of life. Swift is a new technology, developed in the UK, which has been licenced for the general treatment of skin lesions in Podiatry and Dermatology. Swift uses microwave energy which is delivered through a special probe applied to the skin to treat the affected tissue. We can’t wait to be offering this treatment to our patients suffering with Verrucae and get rid of them once and for all!
Zoe has also been offering shadowing opportunities to other Podiatrists across the country who come to learn from her expertise in Foot & Ankle diagnosis and management. We welcome all members of other health care professions to come and see what we do and gain as much knowledge as possible on how we manage the foot & ankle. It is imperative to our team to expand our knowledge as far as possible and get ever more efficient and experienced in what we do for our patients.
It has been a terrific year full of positivity, opportunity and excitement! We really can’t wait to bring so may new services to the clinic in 2022. We wish you all a very happy and prosperous new year!
